Texas Auto Writers Association

The 2012 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit was named “SUV of Texas” and “Luxury SUV of Texas“ by the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA). TAWA doesn’t just pick its Truck Of Texas award from a list.  40 journalists attend a 2-day truck rodeo where car manufacturers show off their best pickups in a number of exhibitions, including on and off-road performances.  Mike Herzing, TAWA president summed it up best, “Grand Cherokee once again demonstrated its superior levels of performance, quality, interior craftsmanship, and reliability that make it an award-winning SUV. Grand Cherokee is a tremendous value for consumers, and is clearly the ‘SUV of Texas.’“

Consumer’s Digest Best Buy

The 2012 Jeep® Grand Cherokee (as well as the 2011 model) was awarded “Best Buy“ from Consumers Digest magazine in the Full-Size / Luxury SUV category. Every year, Consumers Digest auto editors evaluate new cars, trucks, minivans and SUVs by test-driving vehicles in “real world“ conditions to see if the vehicle can really hold up to every day use. Award winners represented the best in functionality and safe and secure family transportation.

IIHS Top Safety Pick

The Grand Cherokee has earned the Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety several times over the years, placing it at the head of its class for safety and security. Georgetown Jeep shoppers can rest easy knowing that the Grand Cherokee is one of the safest SUVs on the market. The “Top Safety Pick” designation recognizes vehicles that do the best job of protecting people in front, side, rear, and now rollover crashes based on “Good“ ratings (the best possible rating) in Institute tests. Winners also must have electronic stability control, which research shows significantly reduces crash risk. Electronic stability has been called “the most important safety advancement since the seat belt.”
