The Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited have been racking up awards from every institution in the automotive industry. Austin Jeep shoppers know that the Wrangler brand is the quintessential American off-road vehicle, and the recognition is pouring in from all over the country. Four Wheeler Of The Year For Wrangler Rubicon

Four Wheeler magazine announced that the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon has been named the winner of its prestigious “Four Wheeler of the Year” award for 2012. Once again the Wrangler Rubicon sets the bar even higher with a new level of capability, including improved power torque and fuel efficiency.

“The 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon owned nearly all aspects of off-road testing during our annual ‘Four Wheeler of the Year’ competition,” said Four Wheeler Editor John Cappa. “The grueling 1,000-mile trek put each contending vehicle through its paces in several on- and off-road environments, including high-speed graded roads, jagged rocks, shifting sand dunes, and more. The universal do-all capability of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon allowed it to outperform the other competing 4x4s, making it our 2012 Four Wheeler of the Year award winner.”

“By earning the respected ‘Four Wheeler of the Year’ award, consumers – and particularly the most die-hard off-road enthusiasts – can be assured that the new 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon has established an even higher level of unmatched capability,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “We are delighted the influential editors of ‘Four Wheeler’ magazine have recognized Wrangler’s new level of capability, along with its improved power, torque and fuel efficiency.”

Not every four wheeler was considered for this award. Nominees had to show significant improvements over previous model years, and Jeep delivered. The rigorous quality test was conducted over more than a thousand miles on a variety of terrain: including pavement, gravel, dirt, sand, rocks and mud at elevations ranging from sea level to more than 9,000 feet.

Best 4X4 Of The Decade For Both Wrangler And Wrangler Unlimited

Four Wheeler magazine editors have named the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon the Best 4×4 Vehicles of the Decade. They write, “The JK (current version) Wrangler represented a big step up in on-road ride and handling for Jeep’s flagship ride, yet its off-road capability wasn’t compromised in the least.” That’s exactly what Jeep was going for.

Wrangler Is Top 10 In Best Resale Value

The 2012 Wrangler is a Kelley Blue Book® Best Resale Value: Top 10 Award winner. The annual Kelley Blue Book award recognizes new vehicles that best maintain their appeal after five years of ownership. Wrangler ranked in the top 10 and won the Compact Utility Vehicle segment.

According to Eric Ibara, director of residual value consulting for Kelley Blue Book, “Jeep had one of the better year-over-year improvements with a 4.1 percentage point gain in its 60-month residual value for 2012. Particularly the Wrangler, among this year’s top 10 list, has been a steady performer, consistently racking up high values. For example, the 2007 model has yet to dip below 60 percent of MSRP as a 5-year-old vehicle. Each succeeding model year has managed to maintain that same high level of performance.“
